Mr. Don Francis, Jr.

Don H. Francis Jr., a New Orleans native, has over 30 years of experience in social work, education, and youth services. As Director of Families In Need of Services (FINS), he has been pivotal in developing systems that align with the Louisiana Children's Code to support opportunity youth and their families. 

 

He received Presidential Scholarship Award and graduated with Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, where he also earned a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, and a Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University. Don is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Louisiana with a passion for teaching.

 

In his role as Director of Culture for Community Academies of New Orleans, Don successfully aligned school culture across multiple campuses, emphasizing an eco bio psycho, social framework.

 

He was also instrumental in bringing Children's Hospital services to the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center, enhancing protective factors for youth in the detention center setting.

 

Don has trained social workers, case managers, and school staff in trauma-informed care through partnerships with the Coalition for Compassionate Schools. His leadership includes establishing school-based mental health programs and managing interventions tailored to the needs of African-American youth. 

 

Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and first aid, Don’s expertise in crisis management, project leadership, and community partnerships has left a lasting impact on the New Orleans community. He remains dedicated to creating safe and supportive environments for children and families.
